How and when can a missed pick-up of garbage, organics or recycling services be reported?

City of Berkeley Zero Waste Crews are in the field for refuse and recycling collection daily between 7:00am - 2:30pm. If refuse, organics, or recycling are not serviced on the regular scheduled pick-up day by 10:00am, please contact 311 Customer Service to report the problem.

Missed pick-ups must be reported after 10:00am on the service day, no later than 5pm the next business day following the regularly scheduled collection.

For example, if your regular pick-up day is Monday and your container is not emptied as of 10:00am on Monday, you must report a missed pick-up by 5pm Tuesday. If your regular pick-up day is Friday, you must report a missed pick-up by 5pm the following Monday.

The cart(s) must be left at the curb, and the Zero Waste Crews will have up to 2 business days to return and service the location once the missed collection pick-up has been reported.

Please note: Missed pickups of residential or commercial refuse reported beyond the allotted time period will not be collected until the next regularly scheduled collection day for the location, unless a special pick-up and charge is requested.
